Do you know the proper way to segregate your household garbage? Likely, your local government has set a manner for refuse segregation in detail, which gives many of you a hard time to separate all the garbage when you put them out. And now it is a season for spring housecleaning, and you may find more garbage than usual.
Given this factor, for this month's HI report, we have focused on segregation and sorting of garbage, and find what kind of garbage are difficult to sort even by checking the classified list, as well as any troubles other than segregation that occur when dispose the garbage.
We have sent emails to those people who have registered to our company as participants, and ask them to answer our questionnaires. The questionnaire contains the following 4 questions.
(We also have asked their problem solution and things they do when they have problem.)
Men and women of 19 to 77 year of age (42 men and 58 women) have answered to our questions.
We have asked the respondents to respond in such way, "burnable", "unburnable", "bottle/can", "plastic bottle"...We then tally the number of the types, and find that...
For the garbage type in different homes, the least number of types was 2 types, and the most was 13 types. What influence the number of types seems to be the types of recyclable garbage. Some households even separate the types of papers, bottles and plastics, while there are many households separate kitchen garbage and/or diapers separately within burnable. Also, there are households that burn the kitchen garbage in their yard.
Classified list is what acts as a benchmark for garbage sorting. How much people would check the list?
From the result, we see that including “check sometimes”, more than 80% of respondents are applying the classified list.
Well, what kind of items has come up? 80% of respondents have responded that they do carry some sort of problems. We have indicated the top 11 items from those responses.
Rather than specific things, many have pointed that it is difficult to understand the standard of sorting such as, "standard of sorting for plastics", "interlaced trash of heterogeneous materials", "separation of burnable and unburnable". For plastics, because there are so many kinds, it is difficult to know which garbage they belong to, or for oversize trash, because the type of garbage changes according to the size, it is likely to become a cause of various confusions.
Within the specific things, there are shoes, bags and umbrellas, many of them belong to "nterlaced trash of heterogeneous materials", and because the percentage differs depend on the things, they seem unable to get the decision in each case. For those who respond "cloths" have question about handling the metal part of the cloth which they do not know what they should do about if there are metal in the cloth, or what they need to do with the zipper.
We also have asked their solution or things they do when they have a problem.
As a solution, many of them have taken care of their problems by asking someone such as, "ask city official or person in charge of the city", "ask the administrative union of the apartment", "ask to the neighbors".
For those interlaced trash of heterogeneous materials, there are people who give an effort to break it down as much as possible or break it into parts, so those trash will not be taken as oversize trash.
In addition, there are people who take things to the recycle shop or online auction to get rid of things without making them into trash.
Odd things are "stone for pickles" or "sand for plants", and the person who has dealt with "sand for plants" has not been able to figure out what to do with it, and thrown them away under the bushes of the park. After all, the person still does not know the appropriate way to trash those sand.
For this question. About 70% of respondents have answered that they have problems or trouble. We have listed the top 11 items from those responses.
The most respondent we get is, "not know when to put the trash Not know when is garbage collection day or time", and we also see quite a few o "There are people with bad manner or who ignore the rule". Even thought they give their effort to separate the garbage and follow the time and date to put the garbage out, it is understandable that they get angry with those who do not follow the rules. Perhaps there are people who accidentally put out trash on different date by not knowing when they are supposed to put it out, and as a result, give trouble to others who see that.
It is impossible to cover entire things in the world, in the limited space that calls classified list. However, it is ideal if we can know most of things by reading that page space.
From this research, by receiving many comments on how difficult it is to separate the plastic garages. I have gone to check our classified list at home to reread how to separate the plastics. There, I have found that there are things I have misunderstood on how to separate the garbage.
I assume many people will need to put out many garages from spring house cleaning. There are many people who say although they do not have any problem on how to separate the garbage, it is possible that there are people who put out garbage in wrong way by not noticing. Also you may be see garbage that you do not know how to separate. Why don't we take this opportunity to recheck your classified list of garbage at home?
